by Jenny

If you love a good read then this blog is for you as I run through my top ten books. Here I wanted to share with you my most memorable reads to date.

1. The Shardlake Series

First off in top spot of my all-time favourite reads, is the epic Shardlake Series by C.J. Samson’s. Find yourself totally engrossed in five big books, well worth their weight! So, this is the one series of books I can honestly say I never got bored of. I love a good crime novel and if you do too, you really are in for a treat! The books are set in historic times, starting with the reign of Henry the VIII. Don’t let this put you off if history isn’t your thing. Trust me these books are all-consuming. Funny, clever, twisty and emotionally engaging. As my top number one, you must must must give this series a go!

2. The Secret Mandarin

Second place has to go to The Secret Mandarin. Oh, this book. What a book! Written by Edinburgh author, Sara Sheridan, this is a story of history, love and deception. I stole this read from my mum’s magical bookshelves and I wasn’t disappointed. Here you can read into history. All about a disgraced woman banished to the colonies from Victorian London. Such a heady woman, hellbent on living life and not being cast away. Which turns into an extraordinary insight into the past of the tea trade. Further, this is a story of survival, love, courage and deceit. A really is a clever book and wonderful read.

3. The Lovely Bones

Oh, the Lovely Bones. I read this book in my late teens. What a special book! A painful read… And a great novel to introduce teens into a world of reading regularly. Reading as I know it today. As such, this book catapulted me into a wormhole of a new reality. Teaching me the magic of books!

4. Me Before You

If you like a tear-jerker, this is the book for you. Me Before you, by Jojo Moyse. A heartbreaking, yet fun story of love, life matters and heartbreak. A romantic novel, now film, about Louisa Clark. After losing her job she is forced to accept another as a carer for the rich, good-looking playboy Will Traynor. Will, a recently-paralyzed quadriplegic, struggling to accept his new reality. Immerse yourself a bond of friendship and love to the end.

5. Kane And Abel

Finally, Kane and Able by Jeffery Archer. A life lesson for all! Master storyteller Jeffrey Archer’s Kane and Abel was a global phenomenon when it was first released. It sold over one million copies in its first week! And as such, has captivated readers worldwide ever since. An entwined story of the son of a Boston millionaire, and the other a penniless Polish immigrant. Two men born on the same day on opposite sides of the world. And yes, of course, their paths are destined to cross in the ruthless struggle to build their respective empires. This marvellous storey spans sixty years. It is a tale of two powerful men linked by an all-consuming hatred, brought together by fate to save . . . And ultimately to destroy each others lives.
